With over 50,000 ForeseeHome patients completing nearly 16 million tests, we've learned a lot about what helps people stay consistent with their monitoring. If you’re new to the program—or just need a little encouragement—here are some tried-and-true tips to help make daily testing a natural part of your routine.
Remember, as your healthcare provider, you may receive communication from us occasionally regarding your testing. Make sure to save our phone number (888-910-2020)!
Make Testing a Daily Habit
• Find your perfect testing spot: Move the device to a convenient and comfortable place in your home. Just make sure the cord doesn’t block a walkway.
• Pair it with your medication: Many of us already have a routine around taking daily medications. Try testing with ForeseeHome just before or after you take your meds. If you take medicine more than once a day, pick the first dose as your testing time.
• Set a reminder: Smartphones are great for setting daily alarms. Choose a time that works best and pick an alert sound you won’t ignore!
• Anchor it to an everyday habit: Think about something you do at the same time every day—reading the newspaper, enjoying your morning coffee, or taking a walk. Add your test right before or after that activity.
• Enlist a buddy: Do you talk to a friend or family member every day? Ask them to remind you with a simple “Did you test with ForeseeHome today?”
Traveling with ForeseeHome
• Yes, you can take it with you! The ForeseeHome device is TSA-approved and can be brought as a carryon when flying. Make sure to use the carrying case provided to keep the device safe.
• Keep testing even while not connected: The device stores your data even if it’s not connected to WiFi or cellular. Once you reconnect, your data will be transmitted to the Notal Vision Monitoring Center.
• Testing in different time zones: There’s no required time of day to test but sticking to your usual daily routine helps.
• Need more options? Ask us for a cellular modem if access to WiFi while traveling might be an issue.
• Going away for more than a week and not bringing your device? Let us know—we can pause your service temporarily.
Testing Tips for Glasses Wearers
• Wear distance vision glasses or contacts. Avoid reading glasses or cheaters while testing.
• Using progressive or bifocal lenses? Look through the top (distance) part of your glasses.
• No foggy glasses! If you find your glasses fog up while testing, try placing your head gently into the viewer. Your forehead should rest comfortably on the device without pressing too hard.
• Keep everything clean: Clean your glasses before testing and gently wipe the monitor eyepiece now and then.
Don’t Forget the Basics
• Need to unplug the device? You only need to unplug the cord from the wall outlet. The end of the power cord that plugs into the device should remain plugged into the back of the device. Make sure plugs and modem on the leg of the device are securely plugged into the back of the device.
• New patient? Save the box your device came in—just in case!
• Need help? If your device isn’t working as expected, call the Notal Vision Monitoring Center at 888-910-2020 (Mon-Fri, 8am-6pm ET). We’re here to help.
